Why is Flooring Important to Bird's Health?
Wood slats break and deteriorate. The narrow wood slats also cause pad and leg injuries. Red Rooster overlapping flooring (OL) and nonoverlapping flooring (NOL) does not deteriorate and does not need to be replaced after each flock of birds. The NOL and OL plastic poultry and chicken slats have a smooth nonporous surface that outlasts wood and does not harbor bacterial growth. Because the Red Rooster nonoverlapping and overlapping flooring will not splinter like wood, the birds are protected from foot pad and hock injuries. Notice the extremely porous surface of the wood slats versus the smooth nonporous surface of the Red Rooster overlapping and nonoverlapping slat. The slats shown above to the right are under 20x magnification. |
