Double L Group, Ltd. began in 1973 as Garnavillo Sheet Metal, in Garnavillo, Iowa as a welding establishment. Producing primarily for the local agricultural market, the business developed a line of bale feeders and movers to meet local, then national demand. In 1975, Garnavillo Sheet Metal landed its first major account with a local retail chain of farm stores. 1978 showed expansion in manufacturing capabilities and a change to the official corporate name, Double L, which stands for "long-lasting". At this time, Double L began exhibiting at agricultural shows across the United States.

Further building expansion occurred in the early eighties and the product line grew with the addition of swine products, including hog flooring and modular buildings. Diversification continued into other markets within the field of agriculture in the 1980’s and 90’s, as well as into the equine, pet, and lawn & garden markets.

In 1998, Double L moved to a new corporate office and warehouse in Dyersville, Iowa. Chosen for its access to major highways and central location in the national market, Dyersville also offered room for greater expansion.

Today, in addition to products in the farm store and livestock & poultry industries, Double L Group, Ltd. also suppies the equine, pet, and lawn & garden industries with high quality products and services. Double L's current facilities offer warehouse space and its own marketing department for improved merchandising. The marketing team is able develop and build point-of-purchase displays, packaging, sales presentations, direct mailings, trade show displays, and a better web presence, all of which contribute to product awareness and sales.
